GB miss out on Paralympic place
Great Britain could only finish fifth at the European Sledge Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic.

The team needed a top-two finish to qualify for the 2006 Winter Paralympics in Turin.

After recording only one win in their first three games, the pressure was on the team going into their final two games in the competition.

But they slumped to a 4-0 defeat against Germany and then lost 2-0 to the Czech Republic.

Germany finished as winners of the tournament, edging out Sweden on points difference.

Great Britain will have a final chance to try to qualify for the Paralympics at a tournament in Turin later this year.

GB squad: Nathan Stephens, Stephen Thomas, Russell Willey, Gary Vaughan, David James (Wales), Ian Warner (London), Simon Berry (Hull), Phil Saunders, Mark Briggs, Richard Whitehead, Gary Farmer (Nottingham), Karl Nicholson (Manchester)
