McMorran lost to Switzerland's Karin Suter-Erath in the final |
Three British wheelchair tennis players saw their winning streaks end in singles finals at the Grenoble Open. In the women's event, British number one Janet McMorran reached her fourth final of the year but lost 6-3 6-3 to Swiss top seed Karin Suter-Erath.
In the quad singles, Adam Field's great run came to an end with a 6-1 6-3 defeat to Andre Rousset of France.
Alex Jewitt was denied victory in the men's singles with a dramatic 3-6 6-4 7-6 loss to France's Denis Lechaplain.
Jewitt had beaten fellow Briton and third seed David Plews 6-2 7-5 to set up the encounter with Lechaplain.
But after taking the first set of the final, he lost out as his French opponent hit edged the second and claimed the third in a nail-biting tie-break.
Field, 19, reached his final with straight sets victories against Polish players Radoslaw Rudzki and Jacek Wierdak.
It was his first tournament final after being classified into the quad division - for players affected in three or more limbs - in the summer.
McMorran, the world number 15 and second seed in Grenoble, had secured victories against Belgium's Cathy Portier and Germany's Katharina Krueger to book a place in the women's final.
