South African swimmer Natalie du Toit will compete in the inaugural Paralympic World Cup in Manchester from 12-15 May. It is a return to Manchester for du Toit who won two golds at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
China, who host the 2008 Paralympics, have also confirmed that they will send a team of 24 athletes to Manchester.
The Chinese competitors will compete in three of the four events - swimming, cycling and athletics.
China topped the medals table at the Athens Games with 141 medals, including 63 golds and are tipped for more success in Beijing.
Among the Chinese competitors are athlete Wang Fang, the winner of the T36 100 and 200m in Athens and men's S7 50m butterfly gold and silver medallists Rong Tian and Mang Pei. The swimming events will take place on Saturday 14 May at the Manchester Aquatic Centre when 14 straight classification events will be held, plus four multi-disability races.
Du Toit, who won five golds and a silver in Athens said she was excited about her return to Manchester.

"It is great to see that events such as this one are being organised for athletes as this raises the profile of the athletes and their competitors."
British Paralympic gold medal swimmers Sascha Kindred and Nyree Lewis and cyclist Darren Kenny are also due to take part and all are hoping that they will get big crowds at their events.
"Nyree and I are based in Manchester and know how passionate the city is about sport and I'm sure that the Paralympic World Cup will be superbly organised," said Kindred.
Added Kenny: "I train regularly at the Velodrome and I know what a wonderful facility it is and I am sure we can count on the Manchester public to come out and support us."
