Great Britain's six-time Paralympic gold medallist Lee Pearson has received the men's international SportStar award for Paralympic athletes. The Staffordshire athlete, who won three equestrian titles in Athens, picked up the award in a ceremony in Lausanne on Friday.
Lee struck gold in the individual Grade I dressage and freestyle and the four-strong team event.
Icelandic swimmer Kristin Ros Hakonardottir won the women's award.
Hakonardottir took a gold and a silver at the Paralympic Games, to take her career tally to 10.
Meanwhile, Tanni Grey Thompson has also been honoured for her sporting achievements by the Laureus world sports academy at its annual forum in India.
The wheelchair racer became Britain's most successful Paralympian, after collecting her 11th gold in Athens.
"Tanni exemplifies the very spirit of sport," said Nawal el Moutawakel, vice-chairman of the academy. "Her achievements demonstrate to all of us the sheer power of will through her refusal to acknowledge any boundaries."
