Defending Paralympic champion Debbie Brennan had to be content with silver in the T34 200m after her second defeat in a week to Canada's Chelsea Clark.

Brennan, who had finished third to Clark in the 100m, was left chasing the race and finished in 35.89 seconds, 0.8secs behind Clark.

"I'm happy with that because Chelsea is a very good young racer," said Brennan.

Meanwhile, Tanni Grey Thompson reached Sunday's final of the T53 400m after easily winning her semi-final in 58.09.

But she knows she will face a difficult challenge in the final after Sweden's Madalene Nordlund set a new Paralympic record of 57.37 in the first semi-final.

"I wanted to go out hard and quickly get past the two athletes on my outside and then just push on and that is what happened," said Grey Thompson.

"I hit 17.5mph down the back straight, which is the fastest I've done so far, but I know I will need a good race to beat Madalene."

Brennan finished ahead of Japan's Noriko Arai, who narrowly missed out on a medal in the 100m, to take 200m silver.

"My start was much better compared to the 100m, but it was much slower compared to the Canadian's," said Brennan.

"I will have to see what the Canadians are doing and try to copy that.

"I know my boyfriend, who is my assistant coach, will have a go at me for only winning a silver here but I'm fine with it."

Karen Lewis-Archer booked her place in the T52 200m final as a fastest loser - clocking 43.11 seconds in a race won in a new Paralympic record of 36.63 by Canadian Lisa Franks.

Rachel Potter was eighth in the T54 400m final, won by Canada's Chantal Petitclerc.
