Rider Nicola Tustain shrugged off the effects of a hand injury to win her second Paralympics bronze in the Grade 2 individual freestyle dressage. The Welshwoman, who was second last to ride on Prinz Heinrich scored an overall mark of 75.000%.
Sweden's Irene Slaettengren, who beat Tustain into third in the individual dressage claimed her second gold.
"I was much happier with this performance than the one earlier in the week," said Tustain.
"I went out there and got a great score."
Tustain, the defending champion in the event, performed to music from the War of the Worlds and said that she had set herself a target score of 76%.
"It was nice to go out later in the competition and have a target to aim for, rather than setting a standard by going out early, which is what happened to me the other day. "I'm pleased with the way the music went and the only criticism I have is that perhaps I could have improved on my softness."
Tustain has been troubled by the injury to the hand she rides with since arriving in Athens and the treatment has affected her preparations.
"I really wanted to retain my gold but the standards have risen a lot and to come third with the injury is great," she said.
Tustain's teammate Jo Pitt finished 10th on Rockhill Kashmir.
