Cavanagh sets new record
British archer John Cavanagh set a new Paralympic record as he won through to the semi-finals of the men's W1 event.

The 48-year-old Londoner achieved the mark in his 164-114 first-round victory over Italy's Daniele Cassiani.

He then beat Sydney silver medallist Olivier Hatem of France 102-93 to set up a semi-final against top-seeded American Jeffrey Fabry on Saturday.

"I was a bit surprised when I heard I'd set a new record as I really didn't know what the record was," he said.

"I didn't need to shoot very well as I was quite comfortably ahead but I'm always just trying to shoot the best I can."

Cavanagh is the last remaining Briton in any of the individual events after his team-mates failed to make it past the early rounds on Wednesday or Thursday.
