Sarah Bailey won silver for Britain in the women's SB9 100m breaststroke at the Paralympics. The Manchester-based swimmer set a British record as she added to her bronze in Tuesday's S10 100m freestyle.
"I was using the breaststroke purely as an aid for my individual medley race, but to have that sort of form going into the IM is fantastic," she said.
Bailey missed out on a second medal of the night when the women's 34 points 4x100 freestyle team finished sixth.
She swam the anchor leg while Jeanette Chippington, Lara Ferguson and Claire Cashmore were the other team members.
Bailey, 26, who is competing in her fourth Games, was thrilled with her breaststroke display.
"I came into the final expecting to fill one of the minor places, but I'm delighted to have won a medal," she said.
"To break the British record by 0.6 seconds is brilliant. As I get older I am getting faster!"
Teenager Rhiannon Henry narrowly missed out on a medal in the women's S13 freestyle, finishing fourth.
And there was heartbreak for Elaine Barrett, who was disqualified after finishing second in the S11 200m individual medley.
Barrett, who was in fifth at the halfway stage, put in a storming breaststroke leg to put her back in contention.
But the judges ruled that her final turn between the breaststroke and freestyle legs was illegal.
