World number one and defending champion David Hall of Australia made comfortable progress into the last eight at the 14th British Open in Nottingham. Hall beat Martin Erni of Switzerland 6-2 6-1 to earn a quarter-final on Friday against Mikael Scheffers, after the Dutchman defeated Lahcen Majdi of France 5-7 6-3 6-1.
Second seed and last year's runner-up, Robin Ammerlaan of the Netherlands, defeated Anthony Bonaccurso of Australia 6-1 6-2.
He will face British number one and sixth seed Jayant Mistry after the world number nine beat fellow Briton Matt Faucher 6-2 6-2.
The top two seeds in the women's draw, Esther Vergeer and Maaike Smit of the Netherlands, both enjoyed victories over American opposition.
World number one Vergeer beat Hope Lewellen 6-2 6-0, while Smit eased past teenager Kaitlyn Verfuerth without losing a game.
Meanwhile, Dutch third seed Sonja Peter ended the hopes of Britain's last surviving player, Kimberly Blake, winning 6-2 6-1.
British interest in the Quad Main Draw Singles continues on Thursday with recent French Open champion Peter Norfolk taking on third seed third seed Sarah Hunter of Canada in the last eight.
Norfolk is also through to the semi-finals of the Quad Main Draw Doubles with fellow Briton Mark Eccleston after they defeated Roy Humphreys and David Jordan.
