There were mixed fortunes for British players on the opening day of the French Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Paris. British women's number one Janet McMorran was in dominant form as she beat Simone Blaauw of the Netherlands 6-0 6-0. McMorran now faces top seeded Dutch player Maaike Smit in the quarter-finals.
However, Britain's Debbie Thomas lost 6-3 6-0 to Armelle Fabre of France.
In the men's main draw singles, Britain's David Gardner suffered a 6-0 6-1 defeat at the hands of Lahcen Majdi of France in the first round.
British number one Jayant Mistry is the seventh seed in the same event and has a bye into the last 16, where he will play Frenchman Regis Harel.
