Adams (right) and Gulliver maintained the form they showed at Lakeside |
Martin Adams beat Dean Winstanley 3-2 in the Dutch Open final, defending his crown in a repeat of their Lakeside World Championship showdown in January. Yorkshire's Winstanley, a surprise finalist on his Lakeside debut, was unable to prevent Adams from adding to his ever-growing list of honours. As well as winning a third BDO crown at Frimley Green, "Wolfie" claimed a third consecutive World Masters in November. Cambridgeshire's Adams also took the Dutch pairs title with Ross Montgomery. They secured a 2-0 victory over John Walton and Martin Atkins in Koningshof. Trina Gulliver continued her winning start to 2011 as she was crowned Dutch Open women's singles champion after a 5-2 victory over Julie Gore. It completed a family double for the Gullivers, with the nine-time BDO world champion's partner Sue Gulliver winning the women's pairs title with Zoe Jones, courtesy of a 5-3 victory over Dee Bateman and Irina Armstrong.
