Peter Manley edges into round two of PDC Championship

Peter Manley edged past Andy Jenkins 3-2 to reach round two of the PDC Championship at Alexandra Palace.

Three-time finalist Manley, who lists the Las Vegas Desert Classic among his titles, took the first set with ease.

Jenkins took a 2-1 lead thanks to some key misses from his opponent, but Manley hit back to level before setting off on a six-leg run to win the match.

Adrian Lewis, from Stoke-on-Trent, also made it through with a 3-0 win over Ireland's Addhagan O'Neill.

O'Neill had earlier won his preliminary-round match 4-2 against Les Francis, but the Irishman was unable to overcome an in-form Lewis, who hit six 180s and had a three-dart average of 106.51 - the best of the tournament so far - as he raced to victory, losing only one leg.

Mervyn King, the fifth seed, also looked impressive as he beat Matt Clark 3-0.

Earlier in the day, England's Steve Hine beat Roland Scholten 3-2 to set up a last-32 clash with defending champion Phil Taylor.

Hine's compatriots Kirk Shepherd and Wes Newton also reached the second round after beating USA's Scott Burnett and Finland's Jarkko Komula 3-0 respectively.

Steve Maish was unable to come back against Co Stompe, the Englishman eventually losing 3-1 to the Dutchman.

Barrie Bates, a quarter-finalist last year, came from behind to beat former BDO world champion Jelle Klaasen 3-1.
