Taylor won the recent inaugural Grand Slam of Darts |
Phil Taylor has warned his rivals that he is determined to begin 2008 as the PDC World Darts champion once again. "The Power" had a difficult start to 2007 after losing last year's final to Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld, but has returned to form in recent events.
Speaking ahead of Monday's opening matches at Alexandra Palace, Taylor said: "I've got the fight back in me.
"I wasn't concentrating on what I should have, but now I'm back dedicated again and that's what it's about."
Taylor, who faces Michael van Gerwen on Tuesday, has embarked on a new fitness regime and experimented with new darts in a bid to fine-tune his game.
The 13-time world champion said: "When I do something I try to do it the best I can, so when I started the diet and the training I went mad at it.

"The only thing I'm worried about ahead of the world championship is that I've been a bit tired recently, but my form's good.
"I was getting beaten (earlier this year) and thought it didn't matter, but now I want to win again."
The PDC event has switched to North London from the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, Essex, where Taylor won 11 of his world titles.
"Things move on, but I've got loads of memories (of the Circus Tavern) and I shall miss it," said Taylor.
"There have been a few special games. I had a semi-final against John Lowe in 1995 which was an absolutely brilliant, and two years later against Eric Bristow I was so nervous I had double-vision!"
This year's PDC World Championship runs until New Year's Day, with the winner claiming a cheque for 100,000.
