Colin Lloyd says he is ready to put a difficult 2006 behind him at this year's PDC World Championship. Lloyd, from Chelmsford, remains the world number one despite a relatively poor year in the major tournaments.
He told BBC Essex: "I'm feeling good. I haven't had a great year due to things away from the game, but that's all sorted now.
"I'm starting to play well again and hopefully that will come through when I'm up on stage.
The event starts on Monday, 18 December, with Lloyd opening his campaign the following day in Purfleet, against German Tomas Seyler.
Phil Taylor, the 13-time world champion, is the hot favourite to defend his crown at the Circus Tavern, although he could face a major new threat.
Great rival Raymond van Barneveld will be competing in the tournament for the first time following his decision to leave the British Darts Organisation earlier this year.
The Dutchman could face Lloyd in the second round if he beats Australian Mitchell Clegg.
