Bobby George rolled back the years as he won through to the last 16 of the Winmau World Masters in Bridlington.

The double world championship runner-up received a sponsors' invitation to take part and won four matches to reach the serious competition stage on Saturday.

He began with 3-0 wins over Vladimir Lavrentiev and Martin Atkins, then beat Mario Robbe and John Henderson both 3-2 to set up a clash with Goran Klemme.

Sweden's Klemme beat former world Championship semi-finalist Co Stompe.

Raymond van Barneveld was the only Dutch representative to make it through to day two, much to the disappointment of the travelling fans.

Top seed Mervyn King won through to meet World Darts Trophy winner Gary Robson, and ex-world champions John Boy Walton and Ted Hankey also had easy victories.

Last 16 draw:
Mervyn King (Eng) v Gary Robson (Eng)
Bobby George (Eng) v Goran Klemme (Swe)
John Walton (Eng) v Steve Farmer (Eng)
Brian Woods (Eng) v Mark Barilli (Sco)
Martin Adams (Eng) v Glen Durrant (Eng)
Darryl Fitton (Eng) v Mike Veitch (Sco)
Ted Hankey (Eng) v Gary Anderson (Sco)
Raymond van Barneveld (Ned) v Dirk Hespeels (Bel)
