Riders hold a minute's silence before the start of the 7th stage of the Tour after the bombings in London yesterday

Stage seven, Luneville to Karlsruhe in Germany, gets under way with 187 riders in action

The peloton chase the breakaway riders but Wegmann grabs the first points at the summit of the Col de la Chipotte

The peloton is lead by the Discovery Channel team and their leader Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong is with the peloton as they show no signs of catching Wegmann whose lead stretches to eight minutes

Wegmann bravely battles on but his chances of a stage win are fading

Wegmann leads for more than 100km but the peloton gradually reduce the deficit to less than five minutes

As Wegmann's lead is cut to under three minutes the group copes with varying weather

As they gradually catch the runaway leader the peloton have to contend with some changeable weather conditions

Italian Alessandro Spezialetti is helped after a fall during the 7th stage of the 92nd Tour de France

Somewhat inevitably the rainy weather leads to a fall as several riders collide within the chasing peloton

German Fabian Wegmann is not able to secure a home win as the group swallow him up

The pack finally catch Wegmann up at the 25km mark and the race is set for a tense uphill sprint for the finish

Robbie McEwen wins his second stage on this year's Tour edging out Sweden's Magnus Backstedt after an uphill sprint
