Wiggins missed out as the riders approached Glastonbury

Bradley Wiggins had to settle for second place as Marco Frapporti took stage five of the Tour of Britain.

The pair were two of a breakaway group of seven before Frapporti went clear in the final few kilometres to finish 13 seconds ahead of Briton Wiggins.

Michael Albasini kept his one-minute 28 second lead, but he suffered a blow with HTC-Columbia team-mate Tony Martin abandoning the race through illness.

Stage six is a 190km ride from King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth.

Frapporti said he was delighted with his manner of victory.

"I attacked with 10 kilometres to go with Dan Martin," said the Italian.

"With five kilometres to go there was a false flat and I jumped then and Dan couldn't go with me, and luckily for me I kept away."
