British cyclist Daniel Lloyd will ride in his first Tour de France in July. The 29-year-old has been called up by his Cervelo team after German rider Heinrich Haussler was forced out of the race with a knee injury. Lloyd, from Christchurch in Dorset, turned professional in 2003 and was 103rd in May's Giro d'Italia. He has twice been second in the British road-race championships and joins compatriot Jeremy Hunt and 2008 Tour winner Carlos Sastre in Cervelo's team. Lloyd's professional victories have been limited to lower-ranking races. In 2006 he won a stage in China's Tour of Qinghai Lake and the Tour of Siam in Thailand, while in 2008 he was the overall winner of the Spanish race the Vuelta a Extremadura.
