Becky James will contest the GB sprint places in Copenhagen |
Welsh cyclist Rebecca James has been selected in the Great Britain senior squad for the Track World Championships in Copenhagen on 24-28 March. The two-time junior world champion is one of three women sprinters, alongside Jess Varnish and reigning Olympic and World champion Victoria Pendleton. James, 18, came third at the national championships in Manchester in October. There is no place for Geraint Thomas, as the Olympic gold medallist concentrates on his road racing career. Thomas - who has won Olympic team pursuit gold on the track - wants to emulate fellow Team Sky rider Bradley Wiggins by becoming a Tour de France contender.
