Bradley Wiggins finished safely in the peloton on the final stage to claim third place in the Tour of Murcia. The Briton moved into the podium places after a third-place finish on Saturday in the time trial, and remained 53 seconds behind winner Frantisek Rabon. The Czech HTC-Colombia rider, who won the time trial, finished 38 seconds ahead of Russian Denis Menchov. Lance Armstrong, who is likely to add an extra race to his Tour de France preparations, finished seventh. The seven-time Tour champion said he was not worried about his result but was "aware" that improvement was needed. | 606: DEBATE |
His Team RadioShack boss Johan Bruyneel described Armstrong's performance as "OK" but believes he needs more racing, with next month's Sarthe-Pays de la Loire in France the most likely addition. The final stage was won in a sprint by Dutchman Theo Bos, with Wiggins' fellow Team Sky member Russell Downing finishing sixth.
