Geraint Thomas crashed out of the Tirreno-Adriatico time trial stage in Macerata, Italy on Sunday and will be out for at least 20 days.

The Welsh Barloworld rider suffered a broken nose and a fracture of the ischiopubic bone in the groin.

The 22-year-old Thomas went over the guardrail and his bike slid down a banking and ended up in a tree.

Thomas, who won Olympic gold in the team pursuit last year, will miss the Milan-San Remo and Tour of Flanders.
