Landis has raced at events that do not fall under anti-doping regulations |
Disgraced American cyclist Floyd Landis has confirmed he will make his comeback at the Tour of California in February. Landis was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France victory after testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone but his suspension expires on 30 January. The 33-year-old said: "This isn't some kind of statement to shut down the critics or any kind of changing-the-world project of mine. "This is me doing what I've trained to do for the last 15 years." Landis has maintained his innocence following his two-year doping ban, blaming mistakes in the testing procedure. But in 2007 the American Arbitration Association upheld his punishment, which was handed down by the US Anti-Doping Agency. The Tour of California is held between 14 and 22 February.
