GB's Pendleton wraps up third WC gold Britain took four more gold medals at the World Cup in Manchester on Sunday to complete a crushing victory, winning 15 out of 18 events over three days. Victoria Pendleton took her third gold with victory in the women's keirin. There was also a third gold for Lizzie Armitstead, who partnered Joanna Rowsell and Katie Colclough to victory in the women's 3000m team pursuit. Jason Kenny, Ross Edgar and Jamie Staff took the team sprint, and Matt Crampton won the international keirin title. Britain's only failure on Sunday came in the madison, where world champion Bradley Wiggins missed out on the medals, as he did at the Olympics. Racing with Geraint Thomas, Wiggins was unable to make up a lap on his opponents, leaving the German pair of Olaf Pollack and Roger Kluge to take victory, ahead of Belgium and Russia. Pendleton won her keirin event ahead of Dina Maria Garcia Orrego of Colombia and Gong Jinjie of China, while 19-year-old Armitstead, Rowsell and Colclough, racing as the trade team 100% ME, beat Germany in their team pursuit final. World Cup debutant Armitstead thanked Olympic star Pendleton and Beijing silver medallist Wendy Houvenaghel for their advice prior to her races. "They're really friendly," she said. "They're not above us or anything, really kind and make you feel welcome. "They told me just to treat it like any other race, enjoy myself and do my best. "It's been a fantastic weekend. Pendleton, well known for her criticism of the unequal distribution of Olympic medals between men and women in track cycling, was thrilled by the achievements of Armitstead, Rowsell, Colclough and others. "It's so good to see so many girls up here who are very driven and ambitious and they want to be as good as the boys," Pendleton said. "They're not coming to have a play on the track, they want to win." Kenny took his third medal of the competition with victory alongside Edgar and Staff in the team sprint, the event in which Kenny and Staff partnered Chris Hoy to gold in Beijing. Racing in the colours of the British trade team Sky HD, the trio beat Poland in the final. Germany took third. The next of the World Cup Classics series takes place in Melbourne, Australia, on 20-22 November.
