Cooke misses out on the trip to Germany because of injury |
Nicole Cooke is out of Great Britain's squad for this month's Road Cycling World Championships in Stuttgart. The Welsh racer, 24, suffered a knee injury towards the end of the season and faces surgery next week.
In-form Scot David Millar rides in both the time trial and the road race along with fellow Tour de France competitors Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins.
Roger Hammond, who missed the Tour, is also in the team, while Elizabeth Armistead makes her senior debut.
Cooke's injury has been rather ill-timed as it also cost her an unprecedented third World Cup title earlier this month.
She had been leading going into the final event but could only finish 34th because she was carrying the injury and had to settle for second place.
