Cooke retains her lead in the World Cup standings |
Dutch rider Adrie Visser won the third round of the World Cup, the Ronde van Drenthe in the Netherlands. The Team DSB Bank cyclist got the better of Elodie Touffet (Menkini Gysko) in a two-up sprint.
The pair had broken away from a six rider pack that included World Champion Marianne Vos, who finished third, and series leader Nicole Cooke (seventh).
Welsh rider Cooke retains a healthy 101 point overall lead in the series from Vos after winning the first two rounds.
"The team had a good race and we had five riders in the front group at the finish," said Cooke. "The girls all did a great job."
The world number one created a new rankings record last week, with a lead of 778 points over second-ranked Vos.
World Cup standings:
1. Nicole Cooke (Raleigh Lifeforce) 171
2. Marianne Vos (DSB Bank) 70
3. Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (T-Mobile) 60
