Britain's David Millar claimed victory in Sunday's prologue time trial in the Paris-Nice race. The Saunier Duval team rider clocked a time of six minutes and one second over the 4.7km course in Issy-les-Moulineaux to take the leader's yellow jersey.
Czech Roman Kreuzinger came in second, with Frenchman Sebastien Joly behind him in third.
Millar returned to the sport last June after serving a two-year suspension for doping offences.
"I feel great and I wanted to do really well today," Millar told French television.
American Levi Leipheimer of the Discovery Channel team was sixth three seconds behind while veteran Bobby Julich, the 2005 winner, was three seconds further back.
