 Millar returns for Britain after completing his drugs ban in July |
David Millar has been recalled to the Great Britain squad for the first time since serving a two-year drugs ban. The 29-year-old Scot was suspended after admitting he took banned blood-boosting substance EPO to help him win the world time trial in 2003.
He will contest the time trial and the road race in the world championships with Roger Hammond and Russell Downing.
World Cup winner Nicole Cooke heads the women's team for the event in Austria which begins on 20 September.
The Welsh rider aims to go one better than the silver road race medal she won last year. She also goes in the women's time trial.
Millar made his competitive return to action in this year's Tour de France, where he came home in 59th place.
Since admitting his substance abuse, Millar claims he is a reformed character and is close to returning to his best form.
However, his drugs ban means he will not be able to compete at the Beijing Olympics.
Commonwealth gold 20km scratch medallist Mark Cavendish is the leading light among a host of up-and-coming British talent who go in the under-23 road race.
