Three-time world champion Oscar Freire of Spain won a mass sprint to claim the Vattenfall Cyclassics race in Hamburg on Sunday. Freire, winner of two Tour de France stages earlier this month, upstaged veteran German Erik Zabel and last year's winner Filipo Pozzato of Italy.
Three escape attempts went clear during the 243.3km stage, the last of which was caught inside the last 15km.
And Freire pipped the bunch for his second one-day classic this year.
The Rabobank rider also won the Fleche Brabanconne.
