Cooke now heads to Sweden for the next World Cup round |
Nicole Cooke was delighted to have won the six-day Thuringen Rundfahrt, but praised her Univega Pro Cycling team. "This really was one of the biggest competitions in the world this year with a lot of strong riders," she said.
"But my team-mates were in good form, so we had the strength in numbers to dictate the racing and we were all picking up wins as the week went on."
Cooke now heads to Sweden for the seventh round of the World Cup, the Open de Suede Vargarda on 28 July.
The event is new to the cycling calendar and is run over 11 laps of a 11.6km course.
After Friday's race the tour stays in Scandanavia for the eighth round of the World Cup, Sunday's Contre La Montre par Equipe in Denmark.
Cooke currently leads the World Cup series by 49 points from closest rival Judith Arndt of the T-Mobile team.
"We've got two very important races in a week's time," Cooke added.
"I'm very pleased with my condition at the moment and I've worked very hard to get here.
"But cycling is a sport that is very good at one moment and can then be very bad if you crash or have problems.
"So at the moment we'll just try to stay focussed on each race and try and pick up some results."
