Armstrong avoids Paris court date | Armstrong is in the clear in France | A Paris court has refused to hear a defamation charge brought by Filippo Simeoni against seven-times Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong. Judicial officials revealed on Monday that the statute of limitations had expired and suggested that Simeoni's lawyers had misinterpreted French law. Armstrong criticised the Italian cyclist in an interview with French newspaper Le Monde in 2003. He still faces a 7 March trial in Italy on civil charges of defaming Simeoni.
