This Italian outfit proved the number one team at this year's Giro d'Italia, with their best-placed rider Danilo Di Luca in fourth place overall. They had not been heavily fancied to shake up the overall order but promptly took away the team prize.
Whether they can repeat that in France remains to be seen, but they boast a talented line-up.
Di Luca is undoubtedly their biggest name, but Dario Cioni, Magnus Backstedt and Charlie Wegelius have all shone.
As it stands, Di Luca is the number one rider in the official UCI standings, while the team itself are well within the top 10 - in the main part due to Di Luca's histrionics.
Already this season he has won the Tour of the Basque country, the Fleche Wallone race and the Amstel Gold.
Up until the Giro, Liquigas had one of the biggest names in cycling on their books - Mario Cipollini - before he opted to retire altogether from the sport... for a second time.
