Phonak have had something of a year to forget since last year's Tour, mostly overshadowed by drug controversy. Oscar Camenzind tested positive test for the banned blood booster EPO, while Tyler Hamilton and Santiago Perez failed tests for blood doping.
The team have since parted company with those three riders and were nearly thrown out of the ProTour by the UCI for their handling of those cases.
But the Court of Arbitration intervened to allow Phonak to compete.
Since then, the team has been able to turn their focus to action on the road, particularly in the wake of Floyd Landis' arrival from Lance Armstrong's team.
Landis will head up Phonak's Tour efforts but it remains to be seen whether the former wild child has the wherewithal to lead a team.
He will be ably supported by Santiago Botero, who won this season's Tour of Romandy, the more-than-capable Oscar Pereiro and the experienced Miguel Angel Martin.
