Best Tour: 2004 - Totschnig seventh
Unlike many German wines, Gerolsteiner gets better with age despite the team still being in its relative infancy.

The German outfit enjoyed their best Tour de France last year, courtesy of team leader Georg Totschnig's seventh place overall.

The team's chances look even better a year on after some astute signings by boss Hans-Michael Holczer.

Undoubtedly the best move was luring Levi Leipheimer, ninth in the 2004 Tour, from Rabobank.

Together they should mount a serious challenge for a top-10 place at the very least, ably assisted by German rider Fabian Wegmann.

It remains to be seen, however, whether team-mate Davide Rebellin will line up for the Tour.

He opted out last year to focus on the World Championships but, should he select the Tour, will be in contention for a breakaway stage win.
