Italian Alessandro Petacchi won Monday's third stage of the Tour of Spain from Cordoba to Puertollano. It was the Italian's 13th career stage victory in the race and his 36th stage win in a major Tour.
German Erik Zabel finished second behind the Fassa Bortolo rider in a sprint finish, with Belgian Tom Boonen edged out into third.
Australian Bradley McGee retains the overall race lead ahead of the Italian Leonardo Bertagnolli.
