Dane Jakob Piil has pulled out of the Tour de France due to a knee injury. Piil, who rides for the CSC team, was in 45th place in the overall standings, 38 minutes and 47 seconds behind current leader Thomas Voeckler.
"He is suffering from a muscle problem in the knee and won't start Tuesday's stage," revealed CSC team director Bjarne Riis.
Piil, 31, made his professional debut in 1997 and won the 10th stage of the 2003 Tour in Marseille.
