 Tyler Hamilton won gold in Athens |
Olympic champion Tyler Hamilton of the United States won the eighth stage of the Tour of Spain on Saturday, a 40.1-km individual time trial. The Phonak rider covered the course in an unofficial time of 47 minutes 16 seconds.
Colombian rider Victor Hugo Pena of the US Postal team was second, just 15 seconds down.
Pena's American team-mate Floyd Landis was third and took the overall lead after finishing in a time of 47:34.
Hamilton dedicated his victory to: "Everyone affected by the attacks of the 11th September 2001, three years ago today".
