Jan Ullrich is to take part in the Tour of Nuremberg on 12 September as he bids to get his career back on track. The 1997 Tour de France winner lost his Olympic road race crown in Athens, finishing 19th despite starting as one of the favourites. The German also pulled out of the Zurich World Cup race on 22 August. Ullrich has had a disappointing year - he failed to challenge for victory in the Tour de France, finishing off the podium for the first time.
