Australia's Stuart O'Grady, riding for the French Cofidis team, won the HEW-Cyclassics World Cup race in Hamburg. The 30-year-old, who won the fifth stage of this year's Tour de France, won a sprint to the finish ahead of Italy's 2003 winner Paolo Bettini.
Close behind Quikstep's Bettini was reigning world champion Igor Astarloa of Spain riding for the Lampre team.
Gerolsteiner's Davide Rebellin of Italy finished in the leading pack to stay on top of the World Cup standings.
Home favourite Jan Ullrich, who won the race in 1997, also finished in 30th a week after his disappointing fourth place in the Tour de France.
"Racing here was great and it's a pity I couldn't be in contention for victory," he said.
"Towards the end I was feeling a bit tired."
