| AG2R Last year all the attention here was on Jan Kirsipuu, the bulky Estonian sprinter and former yellow jersey wearer.
Again he will have the support of his lead-off men, particularly in the early stages. But the team have spread their wings further this season after luring Inigo Chaurreau across from Euskaltel. The Spaniard finished 12th last year and is expected to be the centre of the team's attentions in the mountains. AG2R do not boast the same strength in depth of some of the other teams in the peloton.
The team has known various guises in what is their 11th year - Chazal and Casino. But controversy has followed them for part of that, most notably former team member Rodolfo Massi who was later arrested by police investigating drug use during the 1998 Tour. |
