Former world champion Gourlay was the fifth seed in Perth

Former world champion David Gourlay became the latest big-name casualty at the Scottish International Open when he was beaten by Stewart Anderson.

Anderson, who this month retained the world indoor under-25 title and was a qualifier, defeated his fellow Scot and fifth seed 7-5 9-3 in the first round.

Welsh qualifier John Price had knocked out third-seeded Englishman Mark Royal 7-6 10-4 in Perth on Sunday.

Qualifier Tim Stone had ousted fellow Englishman Les Gillett (13) 8-3 7-5.

Holder and top seed Greg Harlow moved safely into the second round on Monday, beating fellow Englishman Kevin Carrie.

Scots Alex Marshall, the second seed, and Paul Foster, seeded four, are also through, as is world champion Billy Jackson, the Englishman being seeded 10.
