Cornwall's Peter Hore has been called up into the England squad as a guest player for the 2008-09 season. The Holman bowler could gain a full place in the national short mat bowls squad after being successful in trials at the end of last month. He has claimed five county titles since 2001 and is part of the team which are the reigning county triples champions. He is the first Cornwall player to get an England call since Helston's Percy Tripp in the 2002-03 season. Hore's Holman team-mate, Nicholas Truscott, also went for trials with the national side but did not gain a place in the final squad.
