Sam Tolchard may have to move to Australia to further his career |
Devon's teenage bowling star Sam Tolchard says he could have to emigrate to Australia to further his career. The 18-year-old is already the English Under-25 champion but says he may have to move down under if he wants to get to the very top of the sport.
"I may have to consider emigrating to become a full-time professional as they take the sport seriously" he told BBC Spotlight.
Tolchard is heading to Australia in April for the Junior World Cup.
"My aim is to play for England seniors and reach the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, but I'm young enough to also target Glasgow in 2014 and beyond" he told BBC Spotlight.

Tolchard comes from good sporting stock. His uncle Roger was an accomplished wicket-keeper and batsman for Leicestershire and played four Tests for England. His other uncle, Jeff, also played for Leicestershire.
He added: "I chose bowls instead of cricket, despite my uncles Roger and Jeff both playing for Leicestershire and Roger keeping wicket for England. I did represent Devon in cricket, but that's as far as I wanted to take it."
