Bradd Wierzbicki was once again the star turn as Leicester Riders continued their recent good form with a 100-85 home win over MK Lions on Saturday. Wierzbicki top-scored with 26 points as Riders, who were beaten by BBL leaders Sheffield Sharks 100-86 on Friday, closed the gap on the top four. Riders started strongly but Lions hit back with an 11-4 tear to lead 45-41. However Riders went on to win thanks to a 14-3 tear in the fourth - including a fine Tony Windless three-pointer. Tempers flared in the closing stages as players from both benches got involved in an ugly melee when Dawud Morris fouled Wierzbicki going to the basket. Leicester's Barry Lamble and Lions pair Maximillion Simon and Guy Dupuy were all ejected but Riders kept their nerve to move to 24 points, just two points behind Milton Keynes and Glasgow Rocks, who are in third and fourth spot respectively. Despite Friday's defeat at the table-topping Sharks, Rob Paternostro's men have been in good form, winning three of their last four matches. And they have a good account of themselves at Sheffield on Friday, leading by nine points at one stage and trailing by just two points at 71-73 in the final period. But the hosts showed their class late on to strengthen their position at the top of the table.
