Everton Tigers secured their second BBL win in a week as they won 94-89 at home to Leicester Riders to move within two points of third-placed MK Lions. Jerome Gumbs was the' Tigers leading scorer with 28, Jason Johnson top-scoring for the Riders with 23 points. Friday night's win was Everton's second in succession following their 99-79 victory over Essex seven days before. That is form the Tigers will want to carry into Friday's home derby with beaten cup finalists Cheshire Jets. After a tight opening at Greenbank, the Tigers held a six-point advantage at 29-23 going into the first break. They then led 48-29 at one point in the second period, only for the Riders to close the gap to 50-40 at halfway. That deficit was narrowed further to just nine points, at 73-64 heading into the final period. And five points from Isaac Westbrook and a Dwayne James basket brought the visitors to within three points at 92-89 with 1:24 left on the clock. Both sides had chances to secure the victory, but Gumbs secured victory for the Tigers from the foul-line as time expired.
