McKnight has added to his back-room staff

The Guildford Heat have announced that BBL veteran Richard Scantlebury has joined as assistant to coach Chad McKnight for the coming season.

Scantlebury will help McKnight with scouting opposition and will be on hand on game days.

McKnight told the Heat website: "I think Richard will be a great asset to the team. His knowledge of the game and the league is vast."

Scantlebury retired in 2001 after a 17-year career.

"Having last played in the BBL in 2001, I'm now looking forward to joining the Heat organization and the exciting opportunity of helping Chad with this season's team," said Scantlebury.

The former England international played for many famous British clubs, including the Kingston Kings, Thames Valley Tigers, Crystal Palace, London Towers, Milton Keynes Lions and Brighton Bears.
