Vidmantis Uzkuraitis hit 17 points in Wolves' win |
Worcester Wolves secured a vital 90-83 home win against play-off rivals MK Lions thanks to an excellent all-round team display. Wolves had lost their last three games and the omens for Saturday's game were not good as top scorer Anthony Paez was out injured. But Skouson Harker's team had six players in double figures. Justin Brown and Vidmantis Uzkuraitis lead the way with 17 apiece to pace a balanced Worcester offence. Wolves were quick to hit their stride as Uzkuraitis three capped a 21-10 start to the match over the opening six minutes. Lions responded well though and put together a 15-3 finish to first quarter to lead 25-24. A three by Uzkuraitis and two threes by Douglas Tshomba put Wolves back on top 33-31 early in the second quarter. Lions dominated the third quarter and lead 60-53, before Wolves took control with a 19-4 start to the fourth quarter with threes from Uzkuraitis and Tshomba to lead by 12 (78-66). The closest Lions could get from there was 80-74 and 87-81 but free throws from Brown, Tshomba and Harry Disy sealed the win for Worcester.
