Moore won the BBL Player of the Year award in 2005 with Chester Jets
Newcastle Eagles shooting guard Trey Moore has backed coach Fab Flournoy's policy of blooding young talent.
Moore, 33, began his career with Mississippi State University and believes the club's academy players can be the backbone of future success.
"Any time we can get them in the game it's going to help our team," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"We need them, we need to get them as much court time as they can get and it's better for the team."
Texas-born Moore, who has played professionally in Europe and China as well as his home country, arrived on Tyneside during the summer from fellow BBL side Cheshire Jets.
And the former BBL player of the year confessed he is enjoying life with the Eagles.
"I'm loving it here, it's a great organisation from top to bottom," he said.
"Everybody's treating me like family, everyone's nice and polite.
"It's a winning atmosphere and it's a great place to be."
Newcastle suffered their second defeat of the season - a 89-74 loss by the Scottish Rocks on Sunday, following Friday's resounding 111-74 win against Leicester Riders.
