Worthing Thunder have been given permission to compete in the British Basketball League (BBL) next season. The club has enjoyed success since it was formed 1999, winning back-to-back EBL division one titles and competing well in the National Cup and Trophy. BBL chief operations officer Andy Webb said: "Worthing are a strong addition to the BBL. They have a record of success at senior and junior levels." Thunder finished third in EBL division one this season. Frank Gainsbury, Worthing Thunder's chairman, said: "The club has made great strides since its formation nine years ago. "And the continued successes achieved during this time in the EBL have provided a solid basis for progression into the top basketball league in the UK."
