Cheshire Jets spoiled Everton Tigers' party by beating their local rivals 103-80 in front of a near 6,000-strong crowd at the Liverpool Arena. The Jets led 26-24 at the end of the first quarter, but took a grip on the match after the restart with an 18-4 scoring run for a 59-37 half-time lead.
An even third quarter followed before Trey Moore hit back-to-back three pointers to keep the Jets on top.
Everton rarely threatened to eat into the lead for the remainder of the game.
But the major plus for the Tigers was that their experiment of playing the game at a new venue paid off handsomely as they were rewarded with the British Basketball League's biggest crowd of the season.
The result meant the Chester-based Jets closed the gap on Sheffield Sharks in the BBL's final play-off position.
Everton have the chance to gain immediate revenge as the two rivals meet again on Sunday, this time in Chester.
