Flournoy wants to erase the memory of last season's final |
Newcastle Eagles' player-coach Fab Flournoy is determined to redress last year's BBL Trophy loss to Plymouth by beating Guildford in Sunday's final. Despite winning last season's BBL play-offs, Flournoy says the disappointment of missing out on the trophy continues to haunt his players.
He told BBC Look North: "Not winning the trophy felt as if we lost all of them. We don't want to lose again.
"We desperately want to win, our trophy cabinet is looking bare."
The Eagles have already lost one final this season to MK Lions in the BBL Cup on 13 January.
But Flournoy believes it is an experience that the Eagles are ready to put behind them.

"More importantly than winning we hate losing and hopefully we'll be bringing that trophy back up to Newcastle," he said.
The Plymouth venue means a long journey for Flournoy's squad but the player-coach is adamant his team will not be distracted from the task of winning the final.
"It could have been up in Newcastle but it's in Plymouth because we didn't win it and it's a reminder of why we've got to travel down there."
